S2 Exercise 21: Persuasion (1)

PERSUASION

Over the next few weeks you are going to think about persuasion and the techniques used to persuade people.   Then you are going to write persuasively on an issue about which you feel strongly.

PERSUASION TASK 1

For your first task think about and try to answer the following questions in as much detail as you can.

1. a) What is persuasion?

1. b) Write down as many words as you can think of which mean the same thing as persuasion or something similar.

1. c) Why is it important to be able to spot persuasive language?   Try to give at least 2 reasons.

1. d) Name 3 other places you would find persuasive language?  eg a TV advertisement
